How We Make Money
Plainly: who pays us, for what, and the numbers no payment can touch.

Where the money comes from
Monitoring plans
Businesses pay $299 to $599 a year for alerts, competitor tracking and extra profile details, or from $99 a month for review-request and follow-up tools. See plans
Quote requests
Some companies pay a fee when you send them a request through a form on our pages. We say so next to every form, and the request goes only to the companies you choose.
Sponsored placements
When we run them, they are labelled “Sponsored”, sit outside every list and table, and never appear inside “Established”, “Gaining attention” or “New”.
What money can't buy
- A higher rating, more reviews, faster velocity or a better rating change
- A place in, or out of, any group, table or list
- Removal of a review or a public record
- Earlier or later data refreshes than everyone else
Every business is measured by the same code on the same schedule. Read the methodology.
How we keep it separate
The people who sell plans can't edit data, and the data pipeline has no field for “paying customer”. If a business on a paid plan asks for a figure to change, the request goes through the same corrections process as anyone else's.
Questions about money
Do paying businesses get a better activity score?
No. The activity index is calculated from public review counts and our own dated checks, with the same code for every business. The data pipeline has no field that says whether a business pays.
Why does a quote form mention a fee?
Some businesses pay us when you send them a request through our form. We say so next to every form, and your request only goes to the businesses you tick.
Are sponsored businesses part of the index?
No. When we run sponsored placements they sit in a labelled box outside the index and never change its order or any figure.
